Human Resources Director

McBride Homes, Missouri's largest homebuilder and an industry leader in residential new home construction, has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Director to join our management team. The Human Resources Director plays an important role in developing and implementing human resource strategies and initiatives that align with McBride's overall business strategy and its mission, values, and principles. We are seeking a hands-on leader who is experienced working with a mid-size company (100-500 employees) and has the proven ability to manage a broad range of HR functions in a fast-paced environment. This is an in-office position located in our new state-of-the-art facility in Chesterfield Valley.

Essential Functions

Responsible for oversight and coordination, and administration of all activities related to:

Benefits & Payroll

  • Work with third party consultant/broker to procure comprehensive, valuable, and affordable benefit plans
  • Manage all aspects of annual Open Enrollment
  • Act as subject matter expert on all benefit plans, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSAs, COBRA, and 401(k) savings plan. Continually communicate with employees and act as a liaison with insurance providers
  • Manage and process semi-monthly payroll and oversee processing of weekly payroll utilizing ADP Workforce Now, including proper record keeping, updates, changes, deductions, and reporting

Recruiting & Hiring

  • Oversee recruitment and hiring process
  • Maintain ATS, create job postings, screen resumes, and assist with interviews as needed
  • Manage and assist with new employee onboarding process

Employee Relations

  • Respond to all employee relations issues in a professional and timely manner
  • Work collaboratively with managers and legal counsel to address and resolve issues, including disciplinary and termination matters
  • Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation

Compliance & Reporting

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations

including I-9 employment eligibility, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Workers' Comp, EEOC reporting, ACA reporting, OSHA recordkeeping and reporting, non-discrimination testing, and 5500 filing

  • Assist with annual 401(k) audits
  • Maintain employee files, confidential/medical files, Form I-9 files, and other documentation required by law or company policy
  • Maintain an up-to-date employee handbook
  • Maintain knowledge of HR trends, best practices, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law, and apply knowledge to communicate changes in policy, and provide resources to upper management

Experience & Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Human Resource Management or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • Professional HR certification preferred (PHR, SPHR, SHRM CP or SHRM SCP)
  • 5+ years HR management experience in mid-size company environment (100-500 employees)
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of HR administration
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now payroll or similar system, and ApplicantPro or similar ATS
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and government regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to interact successfully with all levels of management, and build rapport and cohesive working relationships with all employees
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Capable of responding quickly to changing priorities, managing multiple projects and deadlines

McBride offers competitive compensation: $100,000-140,000 annual salary, and an annual discretionary bonus program.
